Independent Immigration

Independent Category
This immigration category is based on the evaluation of your occupation's demand in the Canadian job market. An independent applicant must score more than 70 points from the "Points System" in order to merit further consideration.

Eligibility Criteria
You may be qualified as an independent immigrant if you have specific occupational skills that are readily transferable to the labour market of Canada. You must have minimum one year of full time experience in order to apply for permanent residence in Canada, unless your job offer is validated by Canadian Employment Centre, where it would be necessary to prove that there is no other Canadian citizen or permanent resident available in the Canadian labour market to take the respective job. However, you need not to have a job on hand in order to apply for immigration.
The visa officer assesses your application based on 9 factors.

The first parameter is whether your occupation is listed in the General Occupation List (GOL) of Canada. This list is a classification of jobs in Canada and is revised from time to time. Hence, if your occupation is not listed in the current GOL, please visit us for a free assessment because there is the possibility that your occupation is listed in the sub-category of similar jobs.

The second criterion for assessment relates to your age. The principal applicant, which is you, should be between the ages of 21 to 44 to score the maximum units of points in this category.

The third criterion is your language proficiency - you should be fluent in English or French. However, it is not mandatory that you must be fluent in French in order to qualify for Canadian immigration.

The remaining criteria are units on education, employment and training factor (ETF), demographic factors and personal suitability.

If you have blood relatives in Canada, you may be awarded five (5) bonus points.

You have to have enough money available with you to establish and support your family for at least six months upon arrival to Canada. The Visa Office recommends at least CAD10,000 for principal applicant and CAD 2,000 for each dependents. In addition, your intended occupation must appear in the National Occupation List, at least 1 points should be scored from it. Furthermore, you must have at least 1 year working experience or 1750 hours of work in the intended occupation.
